Gegenwärtig sind deutlich mehr als 80 Millionen Menschen weltweit auf der Flucht. Die Ursachen sind Krieg, Gewalt, Terrorregimes, Hunger, Umweltkatastrophen, in vielen Folgen auch Spätfolgen des Kolonialismus. Die allermeisten flüchtenden Menschen schaffen es nur in unmittelbare Nachbarregionen, nur wenigen gelingt es, in industrialisierte, wohlhabende Staaten zu kommen. Doch diese wiederum beklagen sich über die daraus entstehenden Belastungen, oft ohne ihre indirekte Mitschuld an diesen Zuständen zu sehen.
Wir baten Künstler*innen aus ganz Deutschland, sich gestalterisch und ohne Scheuklappen mit der Problematik auseinanderzusetzen. Dabei geht es nicht darum, eindimensionale Propagandabotschaften zu entwickeln, sondern den Betrachter*innen mehrschichtige Anstöße und Anregungen zu vermitteln und sie zur Auseinandersetzung mit dem Thema anzuregen.
